We To Play Productions presents

OUTLANDISH! A comic play with songs by Callum Murray

It’s the summer of 1746. Bonnie Prince Charlie has fled to the Outer Hebrides, closely pursued by 2,000 redcoats. There, a local girl, Flora Macdonald, agrees to guide him to safety. And so a myth is born.

But what if her motives were less pure than the myth suggests? What if the rescue was more mishap than heroism?

OUTLANDISH! is a camp, comic, musical subversion of a tale we think we know, set against a reign of terror in which no one declares which side they’re on, everyone is out for themselves, and in which the sentimental power of a spurious Jacobite song can change the course of history.

FEATURING LIVE MUSIC, BOTH TRADITIONAL AND ORIGINAL!

Phil Nair-Brown as Bonnie Prince Charlie.

Flora: "Why was BPC absent? Because he was busy drinking, eating and shagging his way round France and Italy – like his father, James Francis Edward Stuart, before him. Look, these were not men to be trusted. It should’ve been totally obvious."

Alasdair Carson-Sheard as Captain Con O'Neil.

Flora: "Marry a captain in BPC’s rag-tag army? Can you imagine it? The nerve! Not if his were the last cock and balls on the Long Island. My sights are set far higher and further away."

Sam Nixon as Donalda Macdonald.

"A song can weave a spell, but ye cannae predict who will fall under it and who won't. Some folk are immune. Maybe the plan will work, and I'll get paid. Of maybe the plan will fail, and then I'll get payback. Either way, I'll have some satisfaction."
